New neonate business will drive nutrition innovation
AB Agri, the global agri-food business, has today launched its new neonate entity – AB Neo.
Bringing together four already successful operations, the new business will be focused on developing improved feeding solutions for all species of young farm animals. Under the AB Neo umbrella will be:
- AB Agri Polska (Poland) – the newest business, purchased in 2019, which manufactures micronised ingredients and both calf and piglet starter feeds
- Agilia (Denmark) – market leading producer of DanMilk milk replacers, and specialist feed ingredients including AlphaSoy 530
- ASN (Spain) – market leader in piglet nutrition with the largest dedicated neonate feed mill in Europe
- Primary Diets (UK) – a long established piglet feed business built on 25+ years of research
Exploring the way nutrition influences lifetime performance is a critical objective for the business, and it is currently building a state-of-the-art Innovation Farm in the leading swine producing market Spain, due to be commissioned by the autumn of 2021. With facilities to test up to 7,000 piglets in commercial conditions using smart ‘insight’ feeders and electronically tagged piglets to record all data, this research base, together with £500,000 budgeted for global University research agreements, will deliver real progress in neonate nutrition in the future.
“As AB Neo, our goal is to transform neonate nutrition to enhance lifetime performance and use science as our driving force. The enormous skillset we have across our four sites, together with our ground-breaking research facility, will allow us to research, design, commercially validate and then manufacture solutions that will optimise neonatal growth, health and performance.” CEO, Dr Ian Wellock
